Hey friends, happy long weekend Sunday! Wills and I kicked off the weekend by celebrating our four year wedding anniversary! We don’t make this a big deal, we just enjoy a nice dinner together. We reminisced about our wedding, we talked about what we want to achieve in the coming year, and we shared why we’re grateful for each other. It was perfectly lovely. We plan to spend the weekend with family and friends enjoying the sunshine.
I hope you have a wonderful Sunday and Memorial Day. However you spend it, I hope it’s filled with connection and laughter and a little pause for gratitude.

What I’m Loving
Beauty by Earth Self Tanning Drops - I just can’t wear a swimsuit in public without some level of tan. These drops don’t have an offensive smell and are easy to use. I recommend getting the dark and just using a lower number of drops with your moisturizer. It goes on smooth, and I haven’t experienced any splotchiness.
Shopping in Person - I’ve had the most nostalgic and pleasant experience with Evereve, a women’s clothing brand that’s new to me. I discovered them via a physical mailer, which reminds me of catalog days. When I Googled them, I saw they carry lots of brands I like AND saw they have a brick and mortar in Richmond! When I went, a stylish employee complimented my outfit and offered to build a dressing room for me (she made sure to mention she’s not paid on commission). I had so much fun discovering new brands and trying on stuff I would have never picked out myself! All of it felt like the good ‘ole days of shopping with personal interaction and organic exploration. Full transparency, I did have to order a couple of things online that they didn’t have in my size, but it was nice to look at and touch the items before I committed to buying them. I’m on this quest to define my personal style, and this experience reminds me that I have lots more fun shopping in person than online.
“Are You Okay?” - During one of our first trips to the pediatrician, Millie was (understandably) very upset by the poking and prodding. I tried to console her by saying “you’re okay, you’re okay.” I will never forget the doctor said, “she’s not okay, she’s upset.” While at the time, I thought this was annoying and judgmental, he was totally right. It isn’t helpful for me to insist to Millie that she’s okay when she’s not - that just invalidates her feelings. So I made the simple switch from saying “you’re okay” to “are you okay?” It’s subtle, but it gives Millie the space to express herself without any pressure to suppress her emotions.
